Two of North Carolina’s popular fast food chains are rated as the best quick breakfast, according to USA Today’s 10 Best. Rated No. 7 is Bojangles’ “Famous Chicken n’ Biscuits.” The fried chicken chain has over 600 restaurants worldwide. In 1977, businessmen James Fulk and Richard Thomas opened Bojangles in Charlotte, North Carolina, as co-founders.Rated No. 1 is Biscuitville’s “Fresh Southern.” In 1966, its history began in Burlington, North Carolina, where a flour broker, Maurice Jennings, opened two Mountainbrook Fresh & Milk stores. Jennings began selling pizza at these locations, branding it “Pizzaville” and opening six pizzerias in North Carolina and Southern Virginia. He started baking biscuits in the morning at his locations and noticed the growth in sales. In 1975, Jennings opened his first Biscuitville in Danville, Virginia. Over the years, more locations have opened, and now there are more than 70 Biscuitville locations between North Carolina and Virginia.
